Food Science Students Fighting Hunger − Undergraduate Student Competition

Food science and technology undergraduate students with ideas for the next big innovation in food products are encouraged to develop them for consideration for this new IUFoST Competition. Adhering Bodies are invited to submit candidates with projects involving the development of a new food product, from first principles to a full commercial prototype (border controls permitting).

The primary focus of the Competition is on the scientific and technological principles behind the product. Each project must include a suitable literature review; evidence of good project planning and allocation of work among a project team; and detailed consideration of key food science and technology components in the development of the product. Food Safety Without Borders − Graduate Student Paper Competition 

Food safety has been identified as a Global Public Good that requires local solutions in close collaboration between the public and private sectors, based on globally applicable principles. Food science and technology students have the unique opportunity to make a difference to food safety in their country or region through the Food Safety Without Borders IUFoST Graduate Student Paper Competition. Students must be enrolled in MSc/MS or PhD programs. 

In keeping with IUFoST's vision to Strengthen Global Food Science and Technology for Humanity, food science and technology students at the graduate level are invited to submit academic papers addressing a food problem present in indigenous foods of their country/region in a marketable way with the objective of enhancing global food safety. The finalists will participate in the IUFoST World Congress of Food Science and Technology, to be held in Dublin, Ireland, on 21-25 August  2016. 

Nominations for Young Scientists to Address Food Scientists from Around the World at the IUFoST World Congress 2016

Young scientists have the chance to be selected for the opportunity of a lifetime: to address the world community of food science and technology at the 18^th IUFoST World Congress of Food Science and Technology. This unique experience for seven young scientists has been a part of IUFoST World Congresses since 2006, demonstrating IUFoST's ongoing commitment to nurturing the next generation of food scientists.

Nominees must be 35 years old or younger, in their first post-doctorate position and have a PhD or equivalent. They should exemplify food science and technology nationally, be able to make an oral presentation in a plenary setting and have a focus which exemplifies the Congress theme. Each nominee must submit an abstract and statements of recommendation from professors to the relevant IUFoST Adhering Body, which will make the initial decision on its national representative and submit its nominee to IUFoST for consideration.
